You are invited to my Birthday Extravaganza!
-
It is my birthday on Thursday and I have booked out the Giraffe Manor in Nairobi for all of us to enjoy.
Everyone is invited. Partners, children and friends welcome!
It is all pretend, so don't worry about getting up and down the staircases, it will all happen virtually!Giraffe Manor is in a giraffe sanctuary! I hope you love giraffes!
They stick their heads through the windows for a snack! We will have giraffe snacks on hand. -
Happy almost-birthday @Dot!
Such a cool idea! I thought I would google "giraffe snacks" to check out what giraffes like to snack on so I could write it into this reply, but what to do you know when you google "giraffe snacks" you get these endless gorgeous pictures of snacks shaped like giraffes meant for little kids! Not to all what I was expecting but probably 100x cuter, so here's my virtual gift: You must all go and google "giraffe snacks" immediately and soak in the gorgeous cuteness!!
For a special bonus, "giraffe cake" also offers some wonderful specials to look at

PEM allowing, I will definitely pop back on Thursday! Have a wonderful time @Dot!

@Jeshyr Thanks so much!
Goodness, those giraffe snacks are so cute and such fun. Such variety too.
Apparently the giraffe snacks at Giraffe Manor are boring pellets!

Here is my first birthday activity that I would love you to enjoy if you have the time and energy over the next few days.
Giraffe Manor helps with Giraffe conservation so I thought it would be lovely to give everyone $500 (virtual money only, sorry) that you could put towards helping the animal (bird, mammal, insect, reptile... ) of your choice.
There is $500 pretend money for everyone coming ( @sapphire777 I hope your boys might like to play) and I just would love to know what animal you would choose to donate to, to help its conservation. And if you have enough energy to tell us all why you chose that animal, that would be so interesting.
I'll have a think what I would choose, oh dear, so many animals need help.
-
I've decided to (virtually) dedicate my $500 to Mountain Pygmy Possum recovery.
It is from the Alpine areas in Victoria and NSW and was thought extinct until seen in 1966.
It is called burramys (having a guess at how to pronounce that)It is the size of a mouse and hibernates in winter (good idea burramys!)
It needs bogong moths to eat, so lets hope the cities dampen their lights and allow more moths to get to the mountains each spring.
-
@Dot so adorable. No idea how to pronounce that but since they are mouse from the alpine region my brain just wants to call them Brumby Mouse.
-
@Dot aw what sweet little things! 🥺
-
Nice one @Dot
And so cute
If I had a virtual $500 to support endangered species, I might go for the Hooded Plover, critical endangered in NSW and not having a great time of it in SA and Victoria.

@Dot
🦒
Looking forward to birthday celebrations. Thank you for the invite -
@Daffy_Dave the little chick is so fluffy! Aw!
Mine would be the Southern Brown Bandicoot as an endangered SA species. They are under threat from cats and foxes, as well as habitat loss. They are cute and shy, and definitely not rats! You can tell by their long pointed snout and that they hop, rather than run.

-
@gretch Aaww, thankyou so much! What a lovely start to my day!
-
It is birthday breakfast time and giraffes might visit!
-
Here is the breakfast menu. Anything you would like?
We can ask for something that suits your dietary needs, what will you have?I think I'd like a poached egg and mushrooms on toast. (With coffee of course)
-
@Dot definitely start with a coffee and home made muesli.
I’m excited to see what cake we will be eating later🧁 -
@Dot Happy Birthday.
Thank you for sharing your special day with us.
You are a such a caring person and I love waking to read your post.
I hope your first forum birthday party is full of fun and thank you for organising breakfast.
Happy Birthday -

Hooded plovers are such a good choice! I know that volunteers and Park Rangers patrol our Victorian beaches to help guard their vulnerable nests on the sand. There needs to be so much awareness raising!

Wouldn't it be nice to know there were more of these hopping around at night, safe from cats and foxes. They need lots of safe habitat. Us humans just have to stop greedily taking up all the land!
-
@Dot I’ll have what your having with a pot of tea.
And I would have to say koalas; their habitats are becoming smaller, and with the increased traffic, they are more at risk of injury. Plus they are so cute. -
Happy birthday @Dot!!
I would go off menu and assume my stomach can eat whatever it wants haha. I'll have an Eggs Benedict on sourdough with spinach and crispy bacon. Plus a massive coffee that won't make me jittery at all but will taste delicious.
