Whoops... well I had too much dark chocolate yesterday and the caffeine did not allow me to sleep much more than 2-3 hrs. So I feel like absolute CRAP today. ah well. gotta take the good with the bad i guess.
Anyone else also can't stand the $50 minimum order for online groceries through Coles and woolies?
I'm self quarantining b/c I'd rather not risk it (for as long as I can) with the 'rona and I can't see any other option than coles and woolies, other than uber eats groceries which are very high mark ups. I wish it would at least be $30 minimum instead...
I actually live so close to the store it would hardly cost them anything to deliver to me,

OH MY GOSH. I just had an idea.
Dear forum people, what do you think about having a thread dedicated just for laughs and funny memes and things like that?
Literally a place to go for laughs and share funny things you have seen etc, for a 'pick me up' and good vibes/feeling?
-
Hello from over here
So many people to wish better - @Dot @Glimmer @coco @sapphire777 @Nat.
I can only hope I mentioned you all because when I start typing a reply I canβt see the posts any more and my poor brain canβt remember who was posting
The couch day yesterday did help a bit but today I had to go out. My daughter is getting married and wanted me to go and look at dresses with her. A very special event
οΈ So I smoothed down my feathers and went along to be the kind of mum that she deserves.
The dresses were beautiful and my daughter looked gorgeous and happy and I did my best to ignore all the protestations from my body. Perhaps if I promise it a nice long recovery day tomorrow it will not be too vicious in itβs revenge.
Iβm off to sleep and (hopefully) dream of beautiful brides.

Good morning,
I'm a bit groggy and achey (flying fox adventures catching up).Coco I hope you managed to keep off the chocolate yesterday, and get a better sleep.
(close as I could find to a sleeping emoji)
Ha, re Supermarket minimum limits, I struggle to spend $10.
Yes, these are tricky times with covid spreading so quickly. We don't want to get sick, we don't want to add to the pressure on the hospital system, we want to at least wait until the RATs are accessible to us. It is a weird limbo time (as if our lives don't feel like weird limbo time already!).
Hi @artist55 Oh dear, do you feel like you have been run over by a train this morning? I hope you got to sit down at least, while the fabulous wedding dresses were tried on.
Best wishes to your daughter with all the thousands of stuff that planning a wedding involves.Best wishes everyone reading,

Speaking of covid. I'm having a flareup of my chronic bronchitis. It gives me a permanent tickle in my chest and dry cough and might be worsened by reflux or allergies. These flares always give me covid anxiety (the symptom conveniently started when the pandemic did
) but it's particularly bad today, maybe the worst it's ever been, which is making the covid anxiety all the worse. Last time I had a bad flare I got a covid test which was negative, so I'm fairly confident I know these symptoms and its just a chronic illness/autoimmune thing but I still hate it and wish I had access to a RAT to put my mind at ease.

Hello Dear People,
It is 18C here. This is my happy temperature. A little bit of bliss!
After my crook day yesterday, today is easier. Sigh, better not be on flying fox duty again. We live and learn!@artist55 How badly has the wedding dress excursion hit you? Fingers crossed it was just one day.
@river Oh no. I do hope you have woken up better than yesterday. (This is so what I fear, getting something that needs antibiotics -
yours doesn't get that bad - but if it does the doctor will need you to do a RAT, presumably, before they see you.)
(Well lets hope the government requisitioned all those RATs so they can post a couple of packets free to everyone... especially us). STAT!An old friend contacted me yesterday and is sending me a packet of N95 masks as she has a good amount. Very kind of her.
My sister and brother-in-law have covid now. (Double vaxxed, their third dose was going to be this week.)Okay, I need to get ready for the day. Best wishes everyone!
-
@dot Sorry to hear about your sister and brother in law. Hope theyβll be alright. They were so close to having the booster. We are off to have ours tomorrow and thankfully we have a couple of N95βs to wear.
So Iβm resting up today in readiness. -

@sapphire777 Oh no.
It is just so hard. (What can we do but keep hoping wildly.)
I was thinking this morning how my 'just three things' is my everyday lifesaver. But your post reminded me that in the hard years when I was a single mum with a little kid, the
'think what you can do and halve it,
think how long it will take and double it'
was the most important one for me.It is so easy to underestimate, not only our health, but how exhausting the constant worry and responsibility is. And it is so essential that we keep our 'functioning as a mum' as high as possible.
Deep breaths, don't panic. Your brain is getting a better sense of this terrible illness each crash. It does learn. You are good at doing the things that will help you. So many good wishes wooshing your way
As always, amazing advice

We live far from the store so have to order $200 min to get free delivery. Annoying when it's just a few things we need. Although with 2 growing boys it kind of is a constant needing of more food!

Oh that's lovely, what a beautiful thing. Congratulations x

I am feeling very depressed about it all. I feel useless and hopeless. I think I was still thinking I'd somehow just get over this. I hate how limited I am. Could be worse, of course. I'm missing out and I worry about my kids missing out although they are happy watching TV and building Lego. Maybe I needn't worry about them.
I have organised a local Lady to come 3 times this week for an hour to do dishwasher, laundry and tidy because my husband is getting totally overwhelmed.
We are constantly running out of money each fortnight (both on carers for the boys) lately. Hubby is having expensive EMDR treatment but it's not just that, it just seems to vanish. I wish I had a money tree right now!
I wish I could organise someone to take my boys for the night so hubby and I could have one night off. But it's impossible. Even a day would be something. Our youngest has muscle cramps every night which take at least an hour to deal with and he gets very anxious if dad not here so going away isn't feasible. Sigh. We have never had a night away in nearly 7 years.
Ok my moaning is over. Sorry and if you read all that, thanks.
Hope everyone has a bright day!
-
@sapphire777 That all sounds so hard for you, but great that youβve organised a lady to help out. That should make a difference. I couldnβt do without my cleaner.
We all need a wishing well to add to our list of wants/needs eg. Gardener, house cleaner, cook, secretary, supporter etc, etc. -
@glimmer thank you, yes I think it will help. We have home help once a week for proper cleaning but it's the daily tidy of toys and washing and dishes which is hard. I get way too exhausted if I attempt it
-
@sapphire777 thank you . even though itβs all very overwhelming it is a very special time and Iβm glad I went along
-
@dot sorry to hear that your sister and her husband have caught Covid. I do hope they will at least get less taxing symptoms than unvaccinated people might.
The dress shopping was very draining, which makes me sad. I did have a look for that blasted train but it was too quick and I swear I could see the engineer tip his hat at me and grin as he sped off down the tracks
Despite the payback Iβm grateful that I was able to go and support her in her excitement though
Hopefully in a day or two I will feel more like my old self.
Hoping everyone stays safe and as well as possible today.
-
Good morning,
Another cool morning, bliss.
Thankyou @Glimmer @artist55 my sister is hoping they might be improving. (That was yesterday's message. Keen to hear from her this morning.)@sapphire777 Lots of medals for getting that extra help organised!
It is so hard, but so wonderful, to organise something that makes future life better (or at least possible!)Don't give up on the idea of respite. I know it is extremely tricky, and will take a lot of work and small steps, but such a good thing to keep running in your mind for when a possibility appears.
Poor little lad with those muscle cramps
@Glimmer Aren't you spot on. That wishing well is exactly what we need (along with staff). Best wishes for an easy, safe, booster. Yay N95s!
@artist55 Yes, damn. Not fair that you can't just have a special day with your daughter without such repercussions. It does make the days even more special when they cost us so much (I even feel that about the flying fox
).
I hope today is easier.Well, I'm going to make myself a nice little breakfast and get that much loved coffee.
Best wishes all. -
@dot thanks for the medals.
What do we think about the idea that me/cfs is a representation of the over-responsibility, burden of responsibility in our lives? I mean, obviously more complicated than that by itself but I do think it's true for me.
-
@sapphire777 You deserve them all!
Interesting ponder about responsibility. I don't think people with more responsibilities are more likely to get ME/CFS, there are too many people with huge responsibilities who don't get it, and too many people with fewer responsibilities who do.
My feeling is that those with a bigger burden of responsibility are going to find it particularly hard if they do get ME/CFS.
They are less able to say no.
They are less able to make time for rest.
They are less able to listen to their body (too busy responding to outside concerns).
They find it harder to make life small enough that they are not constantly exacerbating their symptoms. So in that way, it is a representation of the responsibilities in our lives. If we can't let go of the responsibilities it is very hard to do the full on, concentrated work that living with ME/CFS requires.

Good morning,
I have been to the veggie market and am set for (at least some of) the run of hot days heading to Melbourne (over 25 is too hot for me, but I am politely waiting to complain until it is over 30C)
Glad to be home and coffee made.
What cuppa or other drink are you sipping on as you catch up here?
Sending you best wishes and all good things.
