December Chat
-
Welcome to December everyone,
It is hot, humid and hayfevery here in Melbourne, and I have been working hard to get my house ready so my home help can clean surfaces and into the corners.
As soon as we have made my bed, I will be in it! Horizontal!
Drinking lots of water until she comes, as I then need to keep my mask on for 90 minutes.Sending good wishes to everyone. What is your day bringing? I hope no-one is flooded up North.
-
@dot hello! I missed a lot yesterday but there was lots of good chat on here
Hope you get through home help day ok! It's going to be hot here too, so weird after that cold snap.
I had my home blood test this morning, I was worried that they would think I was faking my need for it but they were lovely. Phew. Naps now...brain still pretty fried.@artist55 congratulations on the safe arrival of your grand baby!!

Thursday already!
Yay my home got cleaned, and I got the bedding, dry, off the line before the storm arrived. Lots of thunder and lightning. Plus my car finally got taken off to be serviced.
I had a good rest while Deb cleaned. We spent the time complaining to each other about the heat and humidity. Happily, the garden got a great water.
And we are getting the same today, with more extreme rain.@emsarah Hooray that the home blood test went well. The health professionals are generally good at understanding that some people with serious health issues just don't look ill. And each of us are ambassadors for other sick people who don't look ill, so thankyou for your work!
@artist55 will be having her final day of another school week. Hi Artist!
@sapphire777 How is your precious little family. I do hope there are more supports you can access. Send good wishes.
Best wishes to everyone, what's the weather like? How is your day panning out? Hoping things are comparatively okay (that's not too much to ask is it?)
Cheers -
Hi everyone
I have been very busy. My husband had a week away as he became very unwell mentally. It was hard but also easier in some respects. I am utterly exhausted but dizziness and PEM are manageable. I'm feeling it more as days go by so hopefully resting more will abate the worst of it.
It has been so hot the past few days and as much as I used to love warm weather, I can barely stand it now. I want to move to Tasmania! -
@sapphire777 So good to have a catch up from you. I do hope Mr Sapphire found his week away really helpful, and that the next little time is easier and more settled for you all. Your family does have more than its fair share of challenges so here are some medals for you all:
Well done for managing the dizziness and PEM as well as you have been. Such hard work, and harder still when you are absolutely exhausted and being a mum.
I am the same with the heat! I'm coming to Tasmania too!
-
@dot oh you are too kind, it is a bit challenging yes but we get through it, one day at a time. I always think I would have coped wonderfully with rationing, just that sort of person haha
if tasmania is still too hot, we can just mosey down to antartica

Good morning,
It is beautiful here, the humidity has gone.
I'm up early. Dreadful night of hardly any sleep. Wondering if something yesterday set insomnia off. Glad to wake up with a runny nose, gives me reason to take a zyrtec which should help me sleep tonight.I'm going to snuggle down and watch the latest 'Brokenwood Mystery' so I (hopefully) have two braincells to rub together when I meet my daughter for lunch.
Well, it is Friday,
@artist55 doesn't have to get out of bed, but I won't be surprised if she isn't off to check out baby grandson sometime today.@sapphire777 will be waking up to the usual parenting chaos. Thank goodness it is only one day at a time. I hope there are some wonderful treats in what your gorgeous ones do and say.
Hooray that you are a good manager by nature, it certainly makes a difference when life is tossing complications at you.I remember realising that I had learnt so much discipline, planning, strategising and governance that, if I was only well, I could easily run the country! In fact, once they work out the cure for ME/CFS lets all run for government and get this place into shape!
Alright, off I go! Best wishes to everyone!

Hello from proud Nana
@Dot you are probably right in that I will not be able to resist popping down the road to get my newborn cuddle fix
I hope your sniffles settle down and you sleep better tonight.
This week has been full on with the excitement of the birth, and also school presentation night which involved hanging 540 childrenβs portraits in the hall. Boss man said no relief teacher would be employed to take my classes so it had to be done in between!
Luckily my friends rallied round and helped me but Iβm feeling awful today so it will have to be a quick baby cuddle.
@sapphire777 @emsarah I hope your day is filled with sunshine and joy and tiny happy moments in between
-
@artist55 what an exciting day for you! Congratulations on the arrival of a new baby in your family. Enjoy your cuddles

It is the weekend!
(just in case all the days were running into each other for you!)Greetings everyone,
Zyrtec worked and I had a really good sleep but woke up feeling like the Great Sandy Desert. Two glasses of water, two mugs of tea and a pot of coffee later I am starting to feel like I can function a little bit. I'll have water for the rest of the morning, I'm at the waterhole!
@artist55 Lots of medals for managing the school presentation
What a feat.
Too much for a ME/CFSer on International Day for People with a Disability!Hooray to have a cuddle with the most adorable, little, soft-skinned sweetheart in the entire world. Even a quick one. I hope it did happen and then you rest, rest, rested.
Hello @Bec_Em_Aus and everyone else popping in to see what is new on the forum. Cheers to you all, precious members of this community.
My job today is to make a pot of Malaysian style chicken in coconut milk. But guess what, I still haven't cleaned the bottom fridge shelf. Oh well, maybe tomorrow.
-
@dot Yes maybe tomorrow. But I hope you manage to cook that lovely chicken dish, and all that water does the trick. π§π₯€
-
@dot hahaha oh dear, I woke up feeling like a desert as well... I really haven't been drinking enough lately, in part because hayfever has my tonsillitis flaring and swallowing isn't particularly pleasant atm. Trying to catch up with some electrolytes now.
-
Good afternoon from a very windy WA today! We have a metal rooster wind vane on our roof (we call him Roofster, of course!) and on days like today Roofster is spinning and twirling like Fred Astaire
He makes quite a racket too with his metal pole screeching against the base. Some nights Mr Artist threatens to cook him in a pot
Maybe you could make him into a tasty dish, @Dot?
Thank you again for all the good wishes, everyone. I did get my baby cuddle and I even kissed his tiny, little tootsies and his little fuzzy head on behalf of you all
Enjoy your evening and hopefully you have a great nightβs sleep tonight too π₯±
-
@artist55 So pleased to hear you were able to get your cuddles! I once had a rooster who was not quite so lucky as yours will be
-
@dot Malaysian style chicken in coconut milk sounds so delicious! I'll chase up a recipe for that and try it out.
-
Hello,
Let's see if I can be quick and make sense
I'm waiting for Ms5 to arrive for some lovely time, but due to modern craziness, I looked after Ms7 yesterday which is stretching it a bit for me, so all sensible things in place for the next few days.Oh yes @Glimmer we are 'maybe tomorrow' people
But water did help and I did make the dish.
@Bec_Em_Aus I will see if I can put the recipe up on the recipe thread as it is pretty easy (if you have a blender). It came from one of those 'Two Fat Ladies' (Clarissa) so a bit anglicised I presume, but delicious.@river you probably need your throat to be a @river bed for your body. Oh but flaring tonsils would make it hard. How are you today?
I've been struggling with hayfever so much this year too, but more a fight to stop it getting into a chest infection (and my sinuses).@artist55 Haha the roofster! I really hope the wind died down to give you some rest. Happy to cook him up. Coq au vin maybe?
Ooh that sweet little fuzzy head, I bet it smelt like heaven. And those tiny toes.
Best wishes to everyone today. May it be easier than expected and have at least one special little delight in it.

Hello,
Quiet days for me now.
Status report:
I move like I am under water and the tide is against me.
My brain is an overripe plum that fell off the top of the tree and landed splat on the driveway.
My muscles are individually complaining. It is a cacophony. How are you today? Let's share a quiet coffee
(Or other cuppa of your choice.)PS I have somehow strained my thumb. just to make everything more annoying!
-
@dot Haha, I like your descriptions. I feel like a tree that has its canopy singed with fire, and still smouldering.
I canβt shake off a headache since my last outing Wednesday last week, and unfortunately I have another appointment this Friday - to my new Doctor so I hope my brain will work. Iβve been writing down things I want to say to him.
When I have my next cuppa, I will think of you. -
