  • @Dot That stew sounds yum .... I love little ramekins: they are great one pot dinners ... perfect ... I've got a set of four somewhere .... I'm going to dig them out ... glad you recharged ....๐Ÿค“

  • @Glimmer You must be feeling great with a new haircut ... there isn't any better feeling than getting the ''do'' right . Love the imagery of you and your thermos plus sandwiches ... Fasting isn't easy with ME: robbing your body for the test can leave you spinning around in your head: well done with having the food and drink on hand ... โ˜บ

  • Hi everyone. I'm a partner/carer of someone who's been living with chronic fatigue for about five years. It's really nice to find a forum like this! I'm really looking for some advice - my partner's looking for a new GP and it's been pretty disheartening finding someone who takes fatigue seriously, let alone knows anything about it. On top of that, the specialist he was seeing at the Alfred has moved on. Would anyone have any recommendations for a good GP and/or specialist in Melbourne (in the northern suburbs would be nice)?

  • Community Moderator

Welcome @Antimony and good on you for looking out for your partner ๐Ÿ™‚ Just so you know, it's not appropriate to post recommendations for doctors in the forum, but people can send you messages via the "chat" option.

Also, if you haven't tried it already, the Facebook group below may be worth looking into:

  • Good morning lovelies,

Welcome here @Antimony, to you and your partner. I do hope you can find a good specialist. I am also in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, but I am just trying out a new GP (my old one retired) and while she seems great I am not recommending her until I know her better. So I do hope someone messages you with a great option, and/or that fb group comes up with the goods. ๐Ÿคž

@Glimmer Ooh isn't it lovely when good planning and that proportion of good luck that is part of every venture, combine to make such a productive day. Woot! ๐Ÿคน
I hope the day continued nicely and that you are loving your haircut.
Good luck for the test results too.

@crashdummy Yay ramekins. Mine are 2 cup sized so perfect for a small meal.

    Hi @Daffy_Dave

    Hi to everyone else too.

I did get my ramekins finished (four in the freezer, two in the fridge and one eaten last night). Then I had a much better sleep than usual! So I have woken up in a good space to get things done (you should see the state of my kitchen after that 4 day ramekin marathon)
    (okay, no you shouldn't.... )
Plus it is another glorious Melbourne day and I think I will have a chance to sit out and enjoy it.

I'm so excited I am at great risk of overdoing things, so please send me urgent messages that I don't have as many spoons as I think I do!

Off to the kitchen. Music on. Lots of hot soapy water. But I will also put the timer on for 20 minutes.

What is your day like? Hope it has some good things in it. Best wishes and all good things ๐Ÿ€

  • @Dot Remember the spoons โ€ฆโ€ฆ

  • @Glimmer Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚ Very helpful!

(I did well until I finished 20 mins and made a cuppa, knocked the milk which managed to get inside a closed drawer and all over everything on the lower shelves and required another 20 mins cleaning! Aaaargh!)

But I have survived to live another precious day.

Cheers everyone, best wishes for today!

  • @artist55 Thinking of you. Hope you are in bed, resting, all day!

  • Good morning everyone ๐Ÿ˜Š Just checking in to say hi and hope everyone is doing better than they hoped for.

The busyness of last week caught up with me and I ended up taking Thursday off. I rested all day and yesterday too but no improvement, to be honest, so itโ€™s back on the couch today ๐Ÿ›‹

I feel guilty for taking time off and for missing our 32nd wedding anniversary celebration and Iโ€™m annoyed with myself in general but trying to remember that there are still lots of good things to focus on.

Wishing you all a day filled with little moments of joy ๐Ÿค—

  • @artist55 Hi! Sorry itโ€™s another couch day for you, and sorry youโ€™re not up to celebrating your Anniversary. Congratulations to you both. I can relate entirely about your annoyance of missing out, as there are many events that I had to cancel in the past. Interesting one for me today. My lovely neighbour has organised a small get together with other neighbours to celebrate my birthday today at a local cafe. Iโ€™m very annoyed because I didnโ€™t sleep last night and normally Iโ€™d cancel, but I canโ€™t with this one! Iโ€™ll have to dose up on Panadol and hope the adrenaline will kick in. Whereโ€™s that magic energy pill when we need it! It will be couch day for me tomorrow, and probably the next โ€ฆ..

  • Hello, cuppas and medals everyone, for a week done!
    โ˜• โ˜• โ˜• โ˜• โ˜• โ˜• ๐Ÿ… ๐Ÿ… ๐Ÿ… ๐Ÿ… ๐Ÿ… ๐Ÿ…

@artist55 I should hope you are on the couch today! Goodness me, don't be annoyed with yourself! You did the CFS hero thing of doing a whole load more than you normally do (which is already too much!) and managed to get to Thursday before you had to take a break.
Ofcourse one day off wasn't enough to compensate (you really need at least a week off for each of those extra days you did).

Absolutely awful that you had to miss an anniversary celebration, but your health has to be top priority. Look after it properly this year, and you have a good chance you will be able to manage work and anniversary celebration next year.

But look! Woot, woot, your virtual ME/CFS-style Anniversary Celebration is happening right now!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY Mr and Mrs Artist55

@Glimmer Another precious celebration. Fingers crossed it is one of those times a little bit of extra energy pops up from somewhere and carries you through, so you don't just survive it, you even enjoy it. (But straight to the couch when you get home! ๐Ÿ˜‰ )
Hooray for you being in the world!

    Cheers everyone

  • @Dot Thankyou for the pretty card Dot. ๐Ÿ’

  • @Glimmer Wishing you a very happy birthday ๐ŸŽˆ๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿ’๐ŸŽˆ๐ŸŽˆand hoping that your celebration with friends doesnโ€™t use too much precious energy - but sometimes itโ€™s almost worth the spoons!

@Dot thank you very much for the fireworks and kind words. The kids got together and paid for us to have a meal and weekend away so we have something lovely to look forward to in a few weeksโ€™ time ๐Ÿ˜Š

I hope you are all making the most of the spring weather. Itโ€™s sunny here in WA โ˜€๏ธ

  • Sunday already, I've got the day started and I am ready to write (I also have an email to a friend I want to get written today) (About the only friend who still uses email!).

I am so glad you enjoyed the card @Glimmer. I hope you are having a big slow morning rest where you don't have to do anything. I'm keen to know how you are after a tricky outing, but don't write until you are up to it!

@artist55, what excellent kids! Worth getting married for ๐Ÿ˜‰
Isn't it good with CFS to have things planned for the future so you have a chance of being well prepared and ready to make the most of it. (Just try to avoid a @Glimmer-style bad night before it) (as if any of us can! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ )

Ok, my list for today: email, drink lots of water, have a bath, buy milk. Olympic sports all of them!

Best wishes for your day ๐Ÿ”

  • @Dot Well I had a lovely time yesterday and I canโ€™t believe there were no headaches, dizziness, or vision problems. And feeling okay now. This CFS business is so strange. Perhaps itโ€™s lurking, waiting until a couple of days time and then it will be the big whammy. But one can hope. ๐Ÿค—

  • Hi everyone ... looks like its been a week of anniversaries and birthdays ... best wishes to all and everyone having a celebration .... I always look forward to any celebration mostly because it involves cake! ... I don't drink alcohol but a mocktail or two always makes me happy ... We will be celebrating an anniversary and birthday at the end of the month so I better get cracking on what we may do ... It may be a backyard picnic doesn't really matter that it won't be a gala affair ... so long as whatever we do it is different to what we normally do. I will make sure I dress for the occasion even if I'm stuck in the loungeroom chair! It's not my birthday but my husbands. He is pretty happy with anything tradie/ man cave .... He would be over the moon if I showed any enthusiasm to watching "Outback Truckers" with him ... and vise versa ... for our wedding anniversary, I would be pretty chuffed if he watched a chick flick ...heee heee ... Ahhh the finer things in life and we get to enjoy them without leaving the house ...
Just been potting around the house and about to try out the scone recipe ... I had to send the hubby out to get strawberry jam ... I think he's just glad to be charged with a task at the moment as the windy weather here has kept us indoors. Enjoy the afternoon everyone and take care ...๐Ÿค“

  • @crashdummy I like the sound of that backyard picnic. Did you manage to make the scones?

  • Good morning,
I have sunlight coming through the window, but what a cold rainy day we are forecast.

@Glimmer I am so, so glad that you were able to have a lovely time. A birthday present from the cosmos, maybe ๐ŸŽ‚
Fingers crossed there is no big whammy ๐Ÿคž

Haha @crashdummy, cake is wonderful. I don't eat it any more, but what memories I have!
Lovely to have a birthday and anniversary coming up and making plans that will work. Also watching shows, in the comfort of your own house, to appreciate each others delight. Those precious inside things that bond us and make life richer.

I'm also wondering if you got your scones!

Well, touch wood and whistle, my life is seeming a little more in control. My symptoms are not too bad. Today is the last time I need to take my friend to her appt, and I know I will be exhausted tomorrow, but I have food organised and will act as if I have only one spoon.

I've even got a clear bench in the kitchen! What more could I ask for? ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ˜„

Hello to everyone! I wish you a clear bench and a (comparatively) good day. ๐Ÿ‘‘

  • Hi everyone .... yes I did manage to make a batch of @Glimmers' recipe for scones and I must say absolutely delicious ... they came out lighter than my usual and higher ... it was fantastic having Devonshire tea in the afternoon .... but my indulgences and obsession for sweet things is starting to creep into my diet again .. I have worked very hard for the past three months to change my eating menu to clean foods as they are now referred to ... I have done wonders and I feel guilty having these sweet things ... I am going to try a almond flour scone recipe using almond butter and topping with fresh berries that have been squashed and refrigerated over night (this brings out the natural sweetness) The almond flour is gluten free and easier to digest than wheat flour. I'm not use to cooking with this flour and it can be tricky to get it right. I am on the look out for a recipe that actually works! I have tried other cake recipes using almond flour but have been disappointed with the taste. If anyone has tried any successful recipes please post in the fundraising recipe thread. I would really appreciate the help ... That way I can have the cake that we as a family are use to having ready under the cake dome on the kitchen bench and I won't feel like I am missing out on a simple pleasure and I won't have to put up with the disappointed on my husbands face when under the dome is empty!!! ... Today was spent shopping for weekly groceries and just as we set out, the thunderstorm belted down ... it kept me alert the whole way... usually I am asleep in the passenger seat as the trip is long and exhausting. We got back ok and as we drove along the highway we were greeted with a spectacular rainbow that made it all worth it. Completely tired out now and just in my chair thinking like a zombie ...have a good evening everyone ... ๐ŸŒฉ

  • @crashdummy Pleased to hear you tried the scone recipe and enjoyed them. But I know what you mean about getting the guilts. I donโ€™t usually eat cake, but of course I was tempted by a large slice of sponge cake for my birthday! But I took the icing off! I will have a look for any cake recipes that use almond flour. And one thatโ€™s easy!
Isnโ€™t shopping exhausting, especially with a long drive as well. Hope you โ€˜bounceโ€™ back again tomorrow.
