    For the first time in 14 years I didnโ€™t stay to clean up the mess in my classroom, and came home to rest instead.

    All the smiling through gritted teeth as unsupervised toddlers explored precious displays with sticky fingers and making small talk with helicopter parents just depleted my energy stores today!

    Iโ€™ll deal with the mess on Monday morning before school and probably regret that decision. ๐Ÿ˜‚

    Rest up, snuggle up and be kind to yourselves today. ๐Ÿค—

    Wouldn't it be nice if the fairies came overnight and tidied the art room. (Next stop, across the Nullabor and into my kitchen).

    @Daffy_Dave I hope you had your feet up and book nearby all yesterday, and feel better for it today.

    Well we've got a cool change coming so maybe I will sneak out now and give the compost a turn. It is getting easier every day (not because I am feeling better but because added mulch and lots of turning makes it light and airy)

    The sun is shining through the window again, and the rain watered my plants.

    Great advice @Glimmer I listened and I was sensible with the compost.

    A big relief because I have a big day today. An appt with my exercise physiologist (trying to build my core strrength without making my CFS worse) and also taking my friend to another radiotherapy appt.

  • Hello everyone ... seems everyone has been plodding along ... A new week and it's all about appointment setting for me. Unfortunately the GPs in regional areas change quite often and I have a new one to see soon. More MRI's needed and other checks: the good news is I don't have to travel to Melbourne for these appointments anymore as telehealth video calls have solved that problem and our region now has the capacity to do the specific MRI that the Melbourne hospital require, although bookings are needed well in advance. I'm booking for an appointment in January 2022 .. early bird catches the worm I suppose ... Everything is bulk billed through Medicare which I am so grateful for .... I don't know if anyone has had to fill out a travel form before if travelling to a major city for medical but I'm sure glad I don't need to this time round. The rebate for travel is great but getting the form and having it filled out at the appointments is a lengthy task, then it needs to be posted and you wait several weeks for the rebate. I'm feeling less anxious about the whole medical process now that most of it can be done from where I live ... such a relief... hope everyone has a great evening ...๐Ÿค“

  • @crashdummy What a relief for you not having to do the trip to Melbourne. I couldnโ€™t contemplate such a trip. You only need to get through the appointments now. Thatโ€™s a long wait for an MRI (I used to do MRI bookings in a previous life) but itโ€™s certainly worth the wait not having to travel. Yes Iโ€™ve had to fill out many a travel form but also well worth it once the rebate arrives. Itโ€™s great that the new technology is out there to make our lives that much easier.๐Ÿ˜Š

    @crashdummy hooray for telehealth and other changes to medical appointments! The best thing to come out of this pandemic!
    And hooray for Medicare.

    I really need to do some cooking today (things need to be used before they are past it). I will get it down into tiny steps and see if I can make it through. Wish me luck!

    My quiet day yesterday paid off. I finally got a bit of energy late in the afternoon and my good planning paid off. I made the stew and today I will put it into ramekins, top them with a delicious South American corn custard (ask me anything!) and freeze them all except one I will have for dinner.
    (It has been a bit drawn out, I meant to do the whole thing on Sunday, but that's life with ME/CFS)

    We delight in small news here ๐Ÿ˜„ What is yours?

  • @Dot Well I have to tell you that Iโ€™m very pleased with myself. Yesterday I managed to get up early and go for a fasting pathology test and enjoyed my thermos and sandwich afterwards. Then I called into a different hairdresser where they do walk ins. Quick and easy, and no talking. And a very good job as well. I canโ€™t believe that I managed two appointments in one day, and so far today Iโ€™m feeling okay. ๐Ÿค—

  • Hi everyone. I'm a partner/carer of someone who's been living with chronic fatigue for about five years. It's really nice to find a forum like this! I'm really looking for some advice - my partner's looking for a new GP and it's been pretty disheartening finding someone who takes fatigue seriously, let alone knows anything about it. On top of that, the specialist he was seeing at the Alfred has moved on. Would anyone have any recommendations for a good GP and/or specialist in Melbourne (in the northern suburbs would be nice)?

I am also in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, but I am just trying out a new GP (my old one retired) and while she seems great I am not recommending her until I know her better. So I do hope someone messages you with a great option, and/or that fb group comes up with the goods. ๐Ÿคž

    Hi to everyone else too.

    I did get my ramekins finished (four in the freezer, two in the fridge and one eaten last night). Then I had a much better sleep than usual! So I have woken up in a good space to get things done (you should see the state of my kitchen after that 4 day ramekin marathon)
    (okay, no you shouldn't.... )
    Plus it is another glorious Melbourne day and I think I will have a chance to sit out and enjoy it.

    I'm so excited I am at great risk of overdoing things, so please send me urgent messages that I don't have as many spoons as I think I do!

    Off to the kitchen. Music on. Lots of hot soapy water. But I will also put the timer on for 20 minutes.

    What is your day like? Hope it has some good things in it. Best wishes and all good things ๐Ÿ€

    The busyness of last week caught up with me and I ended up taking Thursday off. I rested all day and yesterday too but no improvement, to be honest, so itโ€™s back on the couch today ๐Ÿ›‹

    I feel guilty for taking time off and for missing our 32nd wedding anniversary celebration and Iโ€™m annoyed with myself in general but trying to remember that there are still lots of good things to focus on.

  • @artist55 Hi! Sorry itโ€™s another couch day for you, and sorry youโ€™re not up to celebrating your Anniversary. Congratulations to you both. I can relate entirely about your annoyance of missing out, as there are many events that I had to cancel in the past. Interesting one for me today. My lovely neighbour has organised a small get together with other neighbours to celebrate my birthday today at a local cafe. Iโ€™m very annoyed because I didnโ€™t sleep last night and normally Iโ€™d cancel, but I canโ€™t with this one! Iโ€™ll have to dose up on Panadol and hope the adrenaline will kick in. Whereโ€™s that magic energy pill when we need it! It will be couch day for me tomorrow, and probably the next โ€ฆ..

    @artist55 I should hope you are on the couch today! Goodness me, don't be annoyed with yourself! You did the CFS hero thing of doing a whole load more than you normally do (which is already too much!) and managed to get to Thursday before you had to take a break.
    Ofcourse one day off wasn't enough to compensate (you really need at least a week off for each of those extra days you did).

    Absolutely awful that you had to miss an anniversary celebration, but your health has to be top priority. Look after it properly this year, and you have a good chance you will be able to manage work and anniversary celebration next year.

    But look! Woot, woot, your virtual ME/CFS-style Anniversary Celebration is happening right now!

    @Glimmer Another precious celebration. Fingers crossed it is one of those times a little bit of extra energy pops up from somewhere and carries you through, so you don't just survive it, you even enjoy it. (But straight to the couch when you get home! ๐Ÿ˜‰ )
