Can’t load photo

@Loulou said in Can’t load photo:
Hi there, I have tried to load photos of various sizes and it says there was an error at server. Not sure what I,m doing wrong.
Sorry you’ve had problems loading photos, @Loulou. At least one other person has also had trouble. I’m going to tag our resident tech guru to see if he knows what the problem is.

Testing mine.. just checking that you're using the correct icon of the photo?
One says this ^^ and you're meant to link to a website. The other one has a folded down edge and allows you to upload jpgs.. ?
-
Hi @Loulou - As @EmergeAustralia says, to upload be sure to press the "upload photo" button rather than the "Picture" button - the upload photo button looks like:
There's also a size limit (about 3.8MB from memory, I can look up later). If it's easy to post them up, what size are the images, and do you know the file extensions for them?
-
Thanks @Daffy_Dave for the info. I will try again and see how it goes. I’m not the greatest technical person
-
@Loulou If you've got the spoons, I'd very much be interested to know where you had/have difficulties - "guide to uploading photos" is on my list of things to do, and all input would be useful (but only if it won't take energy needed elsewhere). Good luck with the uploading, and let me know if you have any trouble
-
@Loulou compact the file for internet use then it will upload. I had the same problem. Paste the picture to a word document. Save it as a picture. Right mouse click the image. Save as a Picture Then Format Menu, Compact Picture and it will work. It will be the right size then.

@donnamarie Many thanks and great advice
Writing a guide is on my list (I haven't forgotten - or, more accurately - I have a list and it's on it), but I've been going through a low-spoons patch, so it hasn't happened yet.
-
Any help with changing a profile picture? I've posted screen shots of what I'm seeing. I see that others have been able to do it, so not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Note - it says there's a very small MB limit...even when I compress the photo to under that limit, it won't let me load. I'm on a Mac, in case that makes a difference.
-
@Coggles77 Thanks for mentioning it - is there any chance you could try saving the picture as a .png and loading it as that, if you haven't already? Sorry - this is another of the things on my list to follow up - I'm sorry I'm a bit behind. If it's easy to let me know how you go, that'd be super-helpful. Good luck
Edit: Also, if it doesn't work as a .png, if you upload it here in post, I can try and load it for you (presumably after fiddling around with various image formats and sizes - I'm sorry I don't have the answer straight up).
-
@Daffy_Dave I tried converting it to a .png file, but still no luck. I'll attach it here in case you want to have a play with the image. Thanks!
-
@Coggles77 Thanks, it wasn't quite as straightforward as I'd have liked, but happy to report you have a very classy Hobbit-themed profile pic
-
@Daffy_Dave You are awesome!!!! Thanks for spending your energy to work it out. This photo is from the last overseas trip I took...potentially my last ever overseas trip so it has special meaning to me.
-
@Coggles77 Very happy to help - super-cool that you got to visit (presumably) New Zealand
I know there's no certainty for these things, but very much hope that the docs/scientists make a breakthrough, or you get lucky, and are able to travel overseas again at some stage
-
For anyone else struggling with changing their profile photo - I just tried it and it looked like it didn't work (it got stuck on the "uploading" stage), but after I gave up and navigated away from the page, I discovered it HAD actually uploaded my profile photo. Not sure what's going on there
-
@river Aye, it did this to me with Coggles' photo too. More than a bit confusing. Apologies I haven't had a chance to square this away, working through an annoying virus that's taking an age to shift.
-
This worked for me for uploading profile photo - didn't like the jpg for some reason. Thank you!
