What hobbies do you all do or can manage a little of? I do card making. I seen an article in the community newsletter in the letterbox and decided to join a class once a month for an hour. Now I can do cards on my own and just buy supplies without the need for joining a class.

I've been doing some beading recently. It's too easy to hyperfocus on and lose track of time to the point I risk PEM, but the task itself is soothing and not too demanding. I got some gemstone beads from Etsy and some stretchy elastic cord and I've been making bracelets.

I’d love to see some pics of your cards!

I can imagine that you could lose yourself in the process! It’s so hard when you love doing something to stop when we need to. 😞

Beading is something I’ve wanted to try, but wouldn’t know where to start. How did you learn? I’d love to see pics of your bracelets!

@Simone_Em_Aus I was gifted a beading kit as a child and got into it that way. The kit came with wire but now I prefer to use cord rather than wire as it requires less bits and pieces. It's mostly pretty easy, you just thread the beads onto the cord, pull it taut and tie a couple of knots. The hardest part is making the knots stay with this super slippery stretchy cord (I've had a few accidents with beads exploding across the room when a knot comes loose 🤭 need practice). It would also help to have a beading board - I don't have one anymore and I'm having to improvise by lining up my beads on the lid of a plastic container. They roll all over the place and it's frustrating.

I might try to post some pics next time I'm on my computer.

@river Do you buy beads with a design in mind already? Or do you just buy beads you like and then put them together in a design later?

@Simone_Em_Aus usually I have a particular combination of colours/patterns in mind already. A few years ago, I actually mocked up a whole lot of designs using pictures of beads from Google cause I was thinking of starting an etsy store to sell them.. But then covid happened and it just didn't feel right.

Oh, that’s a clever idea! Are you still thinking of setting up an Etsy store?

@Simone_Em_Aus not at the moment. Maybe if I get NDIS and get a carer who can help me with shipping etc I'll reconsider it but atm it's too much stress for me

There are several suppliers. I show some cards but I will still photograph my latest ones soon. My suppliers are on facebook and do mail orders. They are 'Gift Quest card suppliers' and 'Paper Flourish.' Their contact details are on their facebook sites.

Apparently I do not have the privileges of uploading photos. So I cannot do it.

When posting pictures you have to reduce size of the picture and save it as a picture but also on word as well as saving the image as a picture, under the Format Menu you have the option of the tab to Compress picture for email or webpage. Hope that this is of some help!
